I teach Meditation and Mindfulness at a battered women’s shelter twice a month. I can’t take photos of the women I work with because they would be in danger of their abuser finding them. Instead, I am showing you where I teach meditation in the house. It has been such an honor working with these women who have bravely left abusive relationships where they have been beaten, had death threats, and threats of their children being taken away. I am lucky to interact with these women. I am there to help them by teaching them breathing techniques, guiding meditations, and teaching mindfulness tools.

What they don’t know is that they are my teachers. They remind me to never give up hope, follow my intuition, and love myself.

Wonderful article on how meditation was used as a powerful tool in this emergency with the soccer boys. I am thrilled that they are now safe!

Celebrating our earth today and everyday! This is a picture from our beautiful Palisades Bluff that I took while walking our dog Lollie. My Happy Hour Meditation was doing an Open Awareness Meditation outside. Open Awareness is a practice which encourages a panoramic awareness of whatever is happening without a specific focus. I was attuned to all sensory input. One sense (hearing) dominated since I kept hearing birds singing. Open Awareness is a beautiful practice to try especially in spring when there are so many beautiful sounds and smells in the environment. Happy Earth Day!!!
